Baby's first clothes from Aunt Liwei

We went to Aunt Liwei's house today.

She had just gone to the United States for her honeymoon in December and bought you an Osh Kosh B'Gosh denim romper with white T-shirt. As we still didn't know if you will be a boy or girl, she purposely chose this unisex design that fits both boys and girls.

Is that you kicking, Baby?

Sometime during the week that Daddy went for reservist, Mummy felt some subtle moving sensation in the tummy.

Well, it wasn't really "fluttering" or "popping" sensations that are described by the pregnancy websites. Nor were they "bubbling" sensations that Mummy's friends described. It was just some tightening at times, and sensations of "slight motion" at others.

Hmmm... wonder if that's you, Baby...

I've been anticipating your kicks for so long. Always wondered how it would feel like. Sometimes, I'd grab Daddy's hand and put it at my tummy. But he'd always say that he doesn't feel anything.

But I'm sure I felt them... I felt you... moving inside my tummy, stretching it. Sometimes, there'd be a hard and taut part on the tummy. I 'd guess that's you stretching against the "wall". I'd stroke you for a while and talk to you a bit. Can't wait for you to arrive so I can cradle you in my arms and see you gaze at me...

Daddy goes for reservist

Daddy had to go for 2 weeks of reservist. From 5 Jan to 20 Jan. So sad...

Mummy didn't dare to sleep alone in the house. So had to go to Grandma's house to stay over. The first night, Mummy missed Daddy sooooo much. *SOB SOB* Was totally inconsolable and almost filled up the wastepaper basket with Kleenex. Couldn't fall asleep until past 1 am although went to bed at 11 pm. Woke up with puffy eyes and had to go to work looking like a goldfish the next morning.

Luckily, throughout the two weeks, there were some nights Daddy could book out. So we went home to sleep. How I missed our Simmons bed and Aussino 360 thread count bedlinen. The no-brand mattress and linen at Grandma's place was so rough. I can't imagine how I had spent so many years sleeping in them before getting married.

On those days that Daddy booked out, I worked till 6 pm in school until it was time to pick him up. So tiring... There was one night, I think it was a Friday, that I was SO exhausted I fell asleep at 8 pm and woke up only at 8 am the next day.

Well, one good thing that happened was, I got to eat DURIANS! Daddy is so averse to durians that I haven't eaten it in a long time. Asked Grandma to buy so I could indulge in it while Daddy was away! Had durians for 'supper' for two nights in a row! Yippee!

Dr. Ong didn't give us your photo...

For the past two days, Mummy and Daddy kept talking to you, telling you not to close your legs. We want to know if you are a girl or boy, so that we can start buying you stuff like cots, strollers and clothing. Mummy read from forum posts that some pregnant women did that and true enough, their babies really showed them.

Today Mummy and Daddy went to see you at Dr. Ong's clinic. You were sleeping soundly and not moving at all. Dr. Ong tried prodding you several times but you refused to budge. What's more, you had your legs crossed.

"Seems like I can't tell you the gender of your baby today," said Dr. Ong.

Why, baby? Do you want to give Mummy and Daddy a surprise?

Later, Dr. Ong took Mummy's blood for blood test. Took 3 syringes of it in all! It was so painful, especially when he extracted the needle. Usually when I go for injections, I would dare to look at the needle when it's pricking into the skin. But this time, I was so scared I looked away.

Then we paid the 1st instalment for the gynae package. It cost us a whopping $750! Add in the charge of the blood test and we paid a total of $1000 odd. Well well, what to do... all for Baby's sake.

In the end, after we left the clinic, something hit me. I realised that Dr. Ong had not given us Baby's photo. I quickly called the clinic. The nurse said that Dr. Ong doesn't give the photo during every visit. But I had checked with my colleague who's also seeing him. She said she had to ask him for it.

Sigh... Mummy told Daddy to be more vigilant next time and ask the doctor to print your photo before we leave the place.

Well, for the next visit, Baby, please don't be so shy... Don't cross your legs, ok? We want to start buying you stuff already... Pink if you're a girl and blue if you're a boy! So typical... heehee...
